17 - Year - Old Silver Medal Rider Shooting for Olympics
by Nancy Degutis
RAMSEY, NJ - Few teens have the patience, much less interest in the high levels of dressage, but for Dawn Sapanaro is the exception to that rule.
The Ramsey (NJ) High School senior wrapped up her 2002 competitive year by taking the U.S.Dressage Federation's Silver Medal, the goal she wanted to reach in 2002. Now it's on to the next step, getting on the North American Young Riders team that will compete in the under-21 finals this summer. Beyond that lies college, and after that, the Olympics, she hopes.....

Gina DeSantis - NE JR/YR Dressage Championships
An excerpt from an article at NEJYR Dressage Championships Website, which included our own Gina DeSantis.
"A difference of one-half point separated Caroline from the Reserve Overall High Score winner. Gina De Santis of Chester, New York, in her last year eligible to compete in the championships, turned in an equally impressive performance. With first place finishes in both the dressage and equitation sections, and a third place in the written test, Gina handily won the Bettina Drummond Training Level B Division Championship with a total score of 252.400. An equitation score of 90 clinched for Gina top honors as the Overall Equitation Champion. Team Outfoxed also benefited from Gina’s successes by placing second overall behind the Pegasus Dressage Team in the USDF team championships. Gina and her partner, an 11-year-old Trakehner mare, At Ease, end their Young Rider career on top!"
An excerpt from an article at Horsesdaily News, including Dawn and Muchacho.
"In second position were Dawn Sapanaro and her Danish star Muchacho. Was it not for the programme error they made, the combination would definitely have been the number one of the class. Muchacho is a very impressive, muscled dressage horse with three lovely basic gaits and a wonderful conformation throughout the test, although the dark bay sometimes tended to go deep. Sapanero and Muchacho scored 64.786%."
